I know there was a remake of The Manchurian Candidate in 2004, but they changed it quite a lot. For instance, the military incident occurs during the Gulf War, and Communists are not involved. But, I must admit I haven't seen it.

The DVD of the original that I have includes a discussion with Sinatra in 1998, which was shortly before his death. He said that JFK knew about the movie project and read the book, The Manchurian Candidate by Richard Condon. Sinatra said that during the making of the movie he visited JFK at Hyannis Port, and JFK was very interested and said he was looking forward to seeing it. So, there is no reason to think that the blacklisting of the movie would have occurred had JFK lived.

And despite what Duncan MacRae is saying, it was definitely blacklisted. It effectively disappeared for decades. And remember that for much of that time there were no VCRs or DVD players. And there was no internet. Either a movie played in the theater, or it was shown on television, and that was it.

I thank everyone who clicked it. Backes and MacRae can hardly put a lousy spin on it. We are winning the war for JFK truth.
