Do you realize that authorities never released any photos of Lovelady after the assassination? And they never intended to.

They stuffed the carefully spun FBI photos of Lovelady into the Appendix of the Warren Report without saying a word. But, how many Americans got to see the Appendix? Most saw only an abridged version of the Warren Report- if they saw it at all. It's only because of Harold Weisberg and Mark Lane that the Doorman issue pierced the veil.

And note that there was no mention of any images of Billy Lovelady from 11/22/63 in the Warren Report. Those movies we've been talking about? They didn't start talking about them until years later, like 1967 and afterwards.

So, what was the plan? The plan was that they announced that Doorman was another employee, Billy Lovelady, and they expected it to end there. They never expected photographic comparisons to be done- by anybody.

My point is that they expected to win this by decree- not by evidence.

Harold Weisberg had two points: 1) the FBI stated, categorically and unambiguously, that Lovelady "stated that he was wearing a red and white striped shirt and blue jeans." That's plain English! There are no multiple or alternate interpretations involved. And 2) it got reinforced by the fact that they photographed Lovelady in those clothes with the shirt unbuttoned- substantially unbuttoned. Why would they do that unless it was the same clothes? What would have been the point otgherwise?

He didn't have his shirt sprawled open like that because he was hot.

Authorities didn't want to get into this. They wanted it to go away. But Harold Weisberg, Mark Lane, and also Penn Jones, forced their hand. It was because of those men that suddenly Gorilla Man from the Martin film surfaced and then Lovelady from the Dallas PD footage. There wasn't a word about those images in 1963, 1964, or 1965. Not even in 1966.  I'm telling you that they were all a response to the ruckus that Weisberg and the others were making.

Look at the matching right collars on Doorman and Oswald.

No shirt of Lovelady's had that look of the collar and the furl. Not the striped shirt and not the plaid shirt. Above, it's the same guy, same day, same shirt.
