I just heard from John Armstrong. We had been discussing how many people described Lee Oswald as the biggest kid in the class, which can be easily seen in the 6th grade photo, where he looks precocious.

But, wasn't Harvey always a runt? This is how John Armstrong responded:

"Ralph- Dr. Hartogs, who spent time with Harvey at the Youth House in NYC, wrote in his book, 'He reminded me of a malnourished child refugee from WWII.' Those are not his exact words, but very close. I think Harvey was a WWII refugee, probably from Hungary, and grew up speaking Russian as a child. My thoughts were strengthened when I read about the woman from NYC who said that Oswald's father and uncle were Hungarians, spent most of their time on communistic activities, and lived near 77th & 2nd Avenue in Yorkville." (Note: Yorkville is a neighborhood in Manhattan on the Upper East Side.)
