Go to this link on Google Translate. I typed in the term "hardware store" and on the right it has the Russian translation. And, there is a little icon there on the right which you can click, and you'll hear how the Russian translation of hardware store is pronounced.  I've circled what you're looking for:

Listen to it several times. Then, if you like, try it yourself with some other words or terms. Then, keep it in mind as you ponder the claim that Lee Harvey Oswald taught himself Russian. That he arrived at the El Toro Marine base in California in December 1958 with no prior involvement with Russian and then passed a Russian proficiency exam in February 1959, getting more questions right than wrong. The score he got was "poor" not "failed".  Again: he got more answers right than wrong. That's in Russian.  This was a dyslexic 9th grade dropout whose writing in English was like that of a middle school student, with gross errors in spelling and punctuation. And that's in English.

The idea that Oswald taught himself Russian is preposterous.
