Wow. Backes' hate site against me is gone. Google finally took it down. And I think I know why.

Two days ago, on January 7, Backes put up a statement in which he said that someday somebody is going to kill me and that he can't wait for it to happen.

What is wrong with him? You can't put something like that up on the Internet. That is inciting people to attack me.

So, naturally, I made a screen-save of it, and I sent it to Google, and I sent it to my contact at the FBI.

And now, his whole site is down.

Now, could he come back? I suppose, but now that I have the ear of both Google and the FBI, he better watch it.

But, he'll be starting from scratch. All of that content going back to January 2012- so three years of vile hate- gone in a flash, and he is certainly not going to be able to reproduce it.

Now, here is some irony: Backes still has his Justice for Kennedy page, and on it currently he is lamenting the tragedy in Paris, which is fine. It was an atrocious thing that happened there.

I join Backes in commiserating with the French. It was monstrous and abominable what happened. But, he needn't think that I ever forget that Salman Rushdie lives his life in fear of being killed because so do I, now made worse by what Backes said and encouraged online.

To be honest, I have complained to Google before about Backes, and they never acted.  But finally, they have, and I am pleased. I won't go so far as to say that I am grateful because I think they should have acted much sooner. But, better late than never.
