The fingers consist of three bones which are designated as phalanges. So, you have a proximal phalange, a middle phalange, and a distal phalange. And we can identify all of the phalanges on this guy's finger. 



Now, there is no other way to parse that finger. And notice where the distal phalange is and what is overlying it. 

Did they really think that nobody was ever going to notice this?
